Harbor Creek Marching Huskies
Upcoming Events/Rehearsals PDF Print

After a very successful mini-camp for the winds and percussion, we are looking forward to the next couple of weeks as we prepare for the North East Cherry Festival Parade.  Please check the website often so that you know what's going on!

Next Rehearsals:

  • Full Band:  Wednesday, July 1, 6-8 PM
  • Full Band:  Wednesday, July 8, 6-8 PM

Upcoming Events:

  • The Cadets will be coming to Harbor Creek HS!  The Holy Name Cadets are celebrating their 75th anniversary this season.  As one of the best drum and bugle corps in the world, they always have a great show and they will be staying at HC for their summer tour stop in Erie!  Band members are required to come and observe The Cadets as they are rehearsing.  They will arrive around 8 PM on Sunday, June 28, and stay until they leave to go to the competition at McDowell on Monday evening.  I'm not sure of their schedule but I would suggest that students come sometime on Monday between 9-11:30 AM or 1-4 PM.  It is important that the students see the incredible work habits and talent that these individuals have.  Parents:  Please feel free to come and watch too!
  • The Lake Erie Fanfare is in it's 26th year as Erie's Drum Corps International-sanctioned event.  The line-up for this year's show is pretty good with four top-14 World Class corps and four Open Class corps.  The competing corps are (with areas they are based): The Holy Name Cadets (Allentown, PA), Carolina Crown (Carolinas), Crossmen (Allentown, PA/Texas), Glassmen (Toledo, OH), Teal Sound (Florida), Revolution (Texas), Dutch Boy (Ontario, Can.), and Capitol Regiment (Columbus, OH).  The show is being held at McDowell's Gus Anderson Field.  It starts at 7 PM with exhibition performances by the Lake Erie Sound chorus and the Erie Thunderbirds Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps.  Tickets are $30, $20 and $15 for reserved seating and $12 for general admission seating.  Children are $6.  Please try to go to this great competition and see the best that the marching music sport has to offer.  It's like marching band on steriods!!!  Call 814-456-5300 for tickets and info.  For more information about Drum Corps International (DCI)--including the latest scores--go to our 'Links' page and click on DCI's link!
  • The Marching Huskies Family Picnic is coming up soon!  Please check the website for more information.  I hope everyone can come!  It's a great time with great food.  Hopefully, no one ends up in the hospital this year after our softball game!

The Marching Huskies' 2009 Show PDF Print

I've had a number of questions about this year's show so I thought I'd post some information about it.  I know that the students are pretty psyched about it and I can't wait to work on it!

As this year's Lakeshore Marching Band Association Championships is on Halloween night this year, we've decided to embrace our orange and black and help set the mood.  Our competition show will be titled "Night Terrors".  It will include music from some the best known horror film scores of all time as we examine some of people's most common nightmares.  The first part is called "Nighty, Night!" and will feature music from "Hellraiser" and "Saw" as the band "falls asleep".  The second part of the show is to be called "Trapped!" and will feature music from "Poltergiest" as the guards portrays the helplessness of being trapped.  The show will conclude with a percussion-driven piece called "Here Comes The Boogeyman!" and will portray the energy and nightmare of being chased as we perform music from the movie "Van Helsing".  In the end, we realize that it was all just a dream...or was it?

Just to throw you a bit of a bone, I've included two sound files of soundtrack cuts from which we are writing our music.  Check back for more sound files and updates.  Enjoy!

This year's Drum Majors are Jenny Huegel and Mackenzie Quiggle.  The Drumline Captain is Emily Lucas.  We will soon be choosing our Colorguard Captain.

Here are the two audio files for the two tunes that the winds will be working on for the first part of music camp this week.  The percussion will also be working on the parade tune, "Late In The Evening", a song by Paul Simon.  Please use these files for practice purposes.  The tempos of the recordings will be as we will be playing them.  As always, you must be a member of the site in order to download these files.  More files will be coming as we pass out more music for the season.  Now, go practice!!!!!

Marching Huskie Schedules Available For Download PDF Print

Calendars for the entire 2009-2010 school year are now available for download.  This is basically the same calendar that was included in this year's Band Handbook with same corrections/additions and in a bigger, full-page format.  You must be a member of the website in order to download this file.  It's easy to join and once you do, you'll be able to participate in all of the forums and download sound files and pictures.

As always, please make sure to check the calendar carefully.  Students should be at all rehearsals.  Work is not an excuse to miss a rehearsal.  A student's grade will be affected by absences.  If a student is ill and cannot attend rehearsal, please e-mail Mr. Waha at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call the Band Office at 897-2100 x1315 (it is better to e-mail, if possible).

GFS Marketplace Fundraiser PDF Print

We are trying out a new fundraiser for the HC Music Boosters.  In a partnership with GFS Marketplace (next to Best Buy on Peach Street), the boosters are trying to raise money by just having you shop at GFS.  Sounds too easy, right?  Well, it really is!  All you have to do to is fill out a form and return it to GFS.  For signing up, you get $10.00 off of a purchase of at least $50.  You may include the school's phone number if you are not comfortable with giving out that information.  You will receive a card soon after returning the form.  After that, all you have to do is show the card when you check-out and the boosters will receive a portion of the total.  The more you spend, the larger the percentage of profit for the boosters to help support the band.

These forms are also for you to distribute to friends and family!  Anyone can join and help us out.  There are many originals in the Band Room and there is a scan of the front side of the form available here.  Please contact Mrs. Harriet Langer-Williamson ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you have any questions.  Happy shopping!
